Job Summary:
As a Medical Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors at the healthcare facility. You are responsible for providing exceptional customer service, managing front desk operations, and ensuring smooth communication between patients, medical staff, and administrative personnel. Your role is crucial in maintaining an organized and welcoming environment in the reception area.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
Schedule appointments, collect and update patient information accurately.
Respond to inquiries and provide information about services, policies, and procedures.
Efficiently schedule patient appointments using the electronic scheduling system.
Confirm upcoming appointments and communicate any necessary instructions or preparations.
Manage phone calls, route inquiries to appropriate personnel, and take messages as needed.
Maintain a tidy and organized reception area.
Handle patient check-ins and check-outs efficiently.
Verify patient insurance information and update records as necessary.
Assist with billing processes, including collecting co-pays and providing information on billing inquiries.
Ensure accuracy and confidentiality of patient records.
Assist in maintaining electronic medical records and filing systems.
Communicate effectively with medical and administrative staff to facilitate patient care.
Relay important messages or information to the appropriate personnel promptly.
Address patient concerns and resolve issues whenever possible.
Escalate complex or serious matters to the appropriate supervisor or department.
Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
Stay informed about medical office policies, procedures, and best practices.
Qualifications and Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in healthcare administration is a plus.
Proven experience as a medical receptionist or in a similar role.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Proficiency in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems and scheduling software.
Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes.
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
Customer service-oriented with a professional demeanor.
