Summary
As a Patient Service Associate at Mercy Health Services' Vascular Center, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the center's front desk and administrative functions. This position primarily involves working at the Lutherville, MD location, but flexibility is required for occasional assistance at other locations within the Mercy Health Services network.
Responsibilities
Patient Reception and Registration:
Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
Register new patients and update existing patient information accurately in the electronic health records system.
Verify and collect necessary insurance information.
Appointment Scheduling:
Schedule and confirm patient appointments, ensuring optimal utilization of clinic resources.
Coordinate with clinical staff to accommodate urgent or emergency appointments.
Working throught the EHR workqueue to schedule patients for the center
Ensuring patients have all necessary testing done, prior to seeing the proividers
Provide patients with appointment details and any necessary pre-visit instructions.
Telephone and EHR Communication:
Answer incoming calls and respond to patient inquiries with courtesy and efficiency.
Respond to EHR messages and voicemails promptly, directing messages to the appropriate personnel.
Relay important information to patients regarding appointment changes, test results, and other relevant updates.
Insurance Verification and Authorization:
Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for procedures or treatments.
Work closely with insurance providers to address any billing or coverage-related issues.
Patient Billing and Financial Counseling:
Collect and process patient payments, ensuring accuracy in financial transactions.
Medical Records Management:
Ensure the confidentiality and accuracy of patient records.
Assist in the organization and maintenance of medical records in compliance with relevant regulations.
Assist with Administrative Tasks:
Support administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and document preparation.
Collaborate with other team members to ensure a cohesive and efficient workflow.
Patient Satisfaction:
Strive to enhance the patient experience by addressing inquiries, concerns, and requests with empathy and professionalism.
Seek and implement feedback to continually improve service delivery.
Other duties as they may be assigned.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in healthcare administration is a plus.
Prior experience in a medical office setting, particularly in patient services or front desk roles.
Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and basic computer skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work in a fast-paced environment.
Understanding of medical terminology and insurance processes is advantageous.
