Monday-Friday, exempt position, normal hours may include 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Position Summary:

Supervises employees and activities for the efficient administration of medical office activities in a large medical practice office. Coordinates a broad range of related functions to include patient billingrelated activities, patient registration and scheduling, medical transcription, medical records, budget administration, etc. Ensures and performs administrative support services for a Physician Leader, Group Practice Manager/Physician or similar position.

Position Qualifications:

A.S. Degree in Business Administration or equivalent and five (5) or more years of medical administrative office experience. Strong oral and written communication.

Excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational and analytical/problemsolving skills.

Ability to coordinate and organize multiple functions and activities. Proficient in computer

software products such as word processing, spreadsheet, MEDITECH, IDX, etc.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Monitors workflow and productivity to evaluate office performance. Takes corrective action to ensure the efficient and effective workflow.

  • Directs patient care activities. Assesses patient flow. Develops and maintains systems and processes to assure efficient flow.

  • May perform duties of a certified medical assistant if qualifications are met. MA certification must be maintained.

  • Creates a team focused environment by coordinating clerical and clinical staff to ensure quality patient care.

  • Ensures the production of correspondence, transcribed medical reports, memos, etc.

Distributes meeting agenda and minutes. * May serve as coordinator of divisional residency, fellowship, clerkship, and/or graduate or undergraduate education programs. * Composes, or selects standard form letters for physicians' response to routine inquiries and procedures, such as back–to–work authorizations. Position Qualifications: License/Certification/Education: Required: Requires a High School diploma. Experience/Skills: Required: 6-12 months additional specialized medical secretarial/medical office training and 2-3 years of medical secretarial/administrative support experience.
