Answers telephone in a professional and timely manner.
Greets patients courteously.
Processes daily batches: a) Enters or acquires demographics; b) Prices each patient visit; c) batches the daily charges and submits batch and daily deposit to billing department.
Performs billing functions of recording charges and payments and proper CPT & ICD9 codes on super bills.
Research coding/billing communications submitted to clinic by billing department and responds to all communications in a timely manner.
Verifies all patient insurance coverage prior to patient visit.
Schedules ancillary services.
Schedules patients' appointments.
Returns patients' phone calls when necessary.
Secures required patient and medical information from referring physicians.
Collects co pays, deductibles, and balances upon discharge of patient's visit.
Orders office supplies and maintains inventory.
Maintains and balances petty cash drawer and log.
Completes safety checklist on intranet each month.
Properly checks in patient for office visit, acquiring all necessary information and entering in EMR.
Discharges patient from office visit, collecting co-pay, deductible and/or patient balances.
Schedules ancillary appointments and future follow up appointments.
Initiates and refers patient to specialist, sending all necessary medical and demographic information at the request of the physician.
Preauthorizes scheduled procedures with insurance company when necessary.
Maintains daily office schedule.
Compiles information packets for new patients to complete.
Ensures patient confidentiality and privacy.
Brings deposits daily to the bank.
Submits invoices to manager for payment in a timely manner.
Checks office mail and sorts.
High School Graduate or Equivalent required.
Front-office medical practice experience required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical demands considered medium work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor. Maximum lift of 11 25 pounds on a frequent basis, with a maximum lift of 21 to 50 pounds on occasion.
Ability to lift, push, pull, and / or move objects and equipment that fit within these weight categories.
Walking, standing, pulling, stooping, and reaching are all required in varying degrees throughout the day.
Work completion will require being on his / her feet approximately 25% of the time while working in various areas.
Dexterity required for frequent use of calculator, computer, and / or typewriter.
Frequent handling of correspondence and records.
Speaking and learning required to communicate in person or over the telephone with staff and / or public.
Work is indoor office environment, thermostatic controlled atmosphere.
Must be able to provide own transportation.
