This position is grant funded. Therefore, it is solely dependent of availability of grant funds.
Serves as front line laboratory operator. Prepares testing room with proper equipment, performs blood draws, and conducts standard patient testing. Provides customer service in person and over the phone, maintains laboratory supply inventory.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fulfills administrative duties, including registering patients, answering phone calls, processing and communicating test results, maintaining specimen collection log, organizing and filing results, and maintaining inventory for office and lab
Performs blood draws, orders tests, and ensures information is entered accurately. Conducts blood draws from homebound patients when needed
Disinfects and sanitizes lab and office areas, including all equipment and furniture.
Collects and performs Covid and Covid 19 Polymerase Chain Reaction Tests
Processes patient charges for lab work utilizing internal software; compiles reports and distributes to necessary individuals
Performs related work as required

Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma or G.E.D.
Six (6) months of educational training
At least one (1) year of experience in medical office assistant, phlebotomy, or health related field
Proof of TB Test/Screening will be required to be presented prior to employment

As part of the minimum requirements for all positions with the City of Laredo, a thorough background check and certified school transcripts will be required from all applicants who are offered employment.
