The Louisiana Center for Bleeding & Clotting Disorders (LCBCD) P/T Medical Office Assistant will be responsible for performing a variety of clinical, clerical and administrative functions. Clinical duties include, but are not limited to triaging patients, collecting medical information, recording vital signs (blood pressure, pulse and weight), assisting providers during procedures, performing routine point of care testing, obtaining insurance authorizations for procedures, services, and EKG's. Additional responsibilities will include: scheduling patient appointments, faxing/scanning documents, pre-certifying services and procedures, maintaining the stock room and the physical environment of the exam and procedure rooms. The Medical Office Assistant will serve as floater between clerical and clinical staff as needed and will cover those position when staff are out.• In depth knowledge of good clinical practices as set forth by federal regulations.

Successful completion of a medical assistant program, military corpsman program, or Certified Nursing Assistant training program
High School Diploma or equivalent
Two years of clerical/administrative medical office experience
Familiarity with electronic medical records
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word
