The Outpatient Medical Nutrition Therapist assumes responsibility for Outpatient Nutrition Therapy/Counseling services. S/he follows the standards, policies and procedures of Main Line Health. Utilizing the principles of growth and development over the life span of these patients, the Counselor will demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care and education
Functions as outpatient medical nutrition therapist by:
Coordinating the outpatient nutrition therapy/counseling services at specified MLH hospital campus.
serving as primary therapist/counselor/instructor.
conducting outpatient classes related to the designated nutritional program and other conditions requiring nutritional intervention.
Assists in facilitating Support Group if applicable.
2.Maintains library of nutrition patient/family education material.
3.Provides direct and indirect care to the patient requiring medical nutrition therapy or designated nutritional education by:
providing instructional guidance to clients/families (1:1 or group class).
providing follow-up care and support for clients, if required.
Monitors patient and/or family member to assure adequate knowledge/ skill in performing a specified task.
Responsible for documentation in medical records in accordance with the ADA professional guidelines and the designated nutritional program guidelines for program certification.
Provides consultation regarding medical nutrition therapy education to colleagues, allied personnel, physicians and consumers with Main Line Health and the community.
Confers and plans with members of the healthcare team to enhance total outpatient management.
Contributes to changes in Department and organizational policies and procedures.
Evaluates new products related to medical nutrition therapy in relationship to efficacy, cost-saving benefit and ease of usage and implements change when appropriate.
Complies with Main Line Health and unit-specific standards, established policies and procedures.
Participates in and supports the quality assessment and improvement program.
Works with customers to understand their needs and concerns, and those of the surrounding communities.

Licensures & Certifications:
A current RD license to practice in Pennsylvania.

Minimum of three years experience in related field required.
Demonstrates knowledge of teaching and management principles.
