Report results in an accurate and timely manner. Maintain laboratory instruments, quality control testing and records activity. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Associates degree plus MLT (ASCP) or equivalent certification. # (Site dependent) BLS certification or the ability to earn such in a timely manner after hire. ORGANIZATION: Under direct supervision of technical director and manager; also may receive instruction from pathologists, section heads and technologists. # Has daily working contact with laboratory staff, nursing personnel, inpatients and outpatients, and providers SPECIFIC DUTIES # Supports the Mission, Vision and Values of Munson Healthcare. Maintain a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, the Corporate Compliance Program, Code of Ethics, as well as other policies and procedures in order to assure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior. Responsible for the operation, calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment/analyzers in use. Prepare reagents and test materials and maintain sufficient test materials. Responsible for running and evaluating quality control as outlined in department procedures. Observes Quality Control guidelines, recognizes need for and initiates appropriate action when required. Communicate with other healthcare personnel regarding laboratory specimens, results, testing and protocols. Obtain patient specimens. Responsible for preparing samples for send out testing. Validate accuracy of test results and refer unusual results to Medical Technologist, Section Head or Pathologist. Analyzes patient samples through established laboratory procedures and techniques. Performs pre-analytical, analytical and post analytical phases of laboratory testing. Responsible for acquiring and maintaining knowledge of procedures and new tests added. Prioritizes work appropriately, ensuring timely delivery or results. Meets expected turnaround times. (Site dependent) Perform testing in Microbiology including planting cultures, gram stain preparation and interpretation, fungal smear preparation and interpretation, identification of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, antimicrobial susceptibility testing. #
