ECU Health North Hospital is a Joint Commission-accredited, 204-bed acute bed facility serving Halifax, Northampton and Warren counties in the north-central region of North Carolina. Its service area also reaches into southern Virginia. With more than 600 team members, the hospital offers a broad range of medical and surgical services. It features a 24-hour emergency department and offers advanced diagnostics as well as specialty and primary care.
Position Summary
The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) performs clinical laboratory tests by standard operating policies and procedures. Understands method principles, performs quality control & calibrations, performs preventive maintenance, and analyzes results as to accuracy, acceptability and critical limits.
As a MLT, you will:
Prepare patient specimens as required for laboratory testing and perform laboratory tests specific to department
Monitor test results to assure test quality and validity
Communicate test results in a timely manner as well as entering and retrieving data from laboratory computer systems
Assist in orientation or training of new or less experienced employees or students
Clean and maintain laboratory equipment and environment
Demonstrate appropriate, caring behavior in the workplace, treating patients, their families, visitors and staff with respect and dignity
Works alternate shifts as required
Perform other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to, phlebotomy
Minimum Requirements
Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology is required
Equivalent laboratory training and/or work experience with the US military (2 years) will meet the education requirement
1-2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory as a Medical Laboratory Technician

40 hours a week
Monday - Friday (Evening hours varies)
Required to work rotational weekends and holidays
