The MLS/MLT participates in the education and professional development of laboratory personnel, new employees and students and may participate in the performance of routine administrative and non-routine technical functions. Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Laboratory Technician#Position Requirements 2 year Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) or 4 year Bachelors degree in#Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or#meets one of the eligibility requirements as listed with ASCP for certification as an MLT#or MLS# Entry Level Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Laboratory Work Schedule The Laboratory is staffed seven days a week, twenty-four hours per day. Personnel may be assigned to work mostly one shift or may have a rotational schedule consisting of duty on day, evening and night shifts. Both options may include weekends. Rotational coverage of holidays. Expected to work overtime and/or additional weekends in times of staffing shortages, emergencies and unexpected increases in workload. Expected to respond in the event of a disaster.
