Baptist Health is currently looking for an experienced Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our outpatient draw station at Baptist Clay Health Place! This is a full-time, day-shift position working Monday through Friday, no weekends or holidays. This candidate will be responsible for collection blood and body fluids from newborns to adults. This candidate will be utilizing computer systems in the processing of laboratory specimens and retrieving specimens from a pneumatic tube system and processes specimens according to specimen type. This candidate will distribute specimens to different areas of the laboratory and coordinate specimen pick-ups for referral testing. This candidate will also prepare specimen transfer lists and packages specimens in accordance with laboratory policy for transport as well as trouble shooting any specimen issues. This medical laboratory assistant must be able to successfully work independent of direct supervision.

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant, you will be responsible for:

• Performs a variety of clerical and technical duties associated with the pre- and post-analytical handling of laboratory specimens and results.

• Communicates laboratory results and responds to specimen-related questions from physicians and various other caregivers.

• Collects blood specimens for routine and special laboratory procedures.

• Utilizes computer functions.
