Position Summary:

Under the Direct Supervision of Staff Medical Technologist/Medical Lab Technician processes specimens received into the laboratory and delivers to designated departments.

Performs procedures in assigned section of the laboratory.Maintains quality control in performance of procedures and responsible for maintenance and calibration.Responsible for maintenance and calibration on equipment and maintaining cleanliness of work area.Performs collections, clerical duties and administrative.Responsible for order and result entry into laboratory information systems.Delivers direct patient care appropriate to the age of patient served

Reports to: Director of Laboratory

Minimum EducationX Associate's degree Required

Graduate of a Program in Discipline □ Preferred □ Required

Bachelor's degree x Required

Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Certifications:□ Basic Life Support (BLS) □ Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) □ Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) □ Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) □ Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) □Other__________________________ □Other_________________________

Licenses:

Completion of Associate degree MLT program and currently completing clinical rotations.

Required Licenses[West Virginia, United States] Other

After Clinical Rotation completion, required to sit for Registry from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent registry and WV State Laboratory Technologist licensure.
