Independently performs and evaluates various laboratory tests on patient specimens providing data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease utilizing the established methods and procedures with minimal supervision. May serve as lead tech in specified areas and assist in training new technical staff and evaluate competency of MLT and phlebotomy staff under the direction of the Laboratory Manager/Technical Supervisor and Laboratory Medical Director.

The position is suited to a Generalist, with the ability to rotate through all departments with minimal supervision, guidance and direction by the supervisor and /or Laboratory Medical Director. Frequent contact is made with physicians, nurses, patients and other hospital personnel, laboratory staff and hospital visitors.

Bachelors Degree in Medial Technology or Related field

Required Skills

CPR certification within 90 days of employment, Basic phlebotomy skills are necessary. Ability to pay attention to detail, ability to multi-task, willingness to update Medical Technologist skills.

Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances. Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient. Minimum Education Active Tennessee RN license or Compact State RN license with the intent to obtain a Tennessee RN license within 30 days of hire. Required Skills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
