OFFERING A $3,000 SIGN ON BONUS PLUS SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL GENERAL SUMMARY Performs analysis on laboratory specimens and report results in all areas of the clinical laboratory, following department policy and procedures and maintaining quality control practices. FUNCTIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Clinical Demonstrates competency to perform procedures. Functions in all areas of the clinical laboratory, including blood bank, chemistry, hematology, microbiology, serology/immunology, performs venipunctures, and skin punctures. Notifies patient care unit and/or physician of critical lab values. Maintains and operates laboratory equipment safely and correctly. Participates in the implementation of new methods, products, and instrumentation, as assigned by the supervisor or lab director. Complies with call schedule and arrives for emergency cases within the time frame defined by organizational policy and procedure. May assist in the orientation of new technical staff at the direction of the supervisor or lab director. Quality Control # Compliance Adheres to current documentation standards and policies. Writes and updates lab procedures, in collaboration with the Director, as assigned. May be responsible for Quality Control oversight, as assigned by the supervisor or lab director. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. Performs quality control and instrument checks. Follows standard precautions at all times. Responsible for maintaining 36 continuing education credits in each 3-year period. Responsible for maintenace of annual competency assessments as required by CLIA. Adjusts approach to patients and families in accordance with age group. POSITION REQUIREMENTS# Knowledge / Skills / Abilities # Minimum of 2 years of relevant technical experience preferred. Experience # Education # Associate#s Degree in Medical Technology, or equivalent. ASCP or equivalent certification required within one year of hire. BLS Certification
