Medical Front Desk Receptionist
Our client located in Spring, TX is in need of a We have a contract position for a Medical Front Desk Receptionist on a contract basis for approximately 2 - 4 weeks.

Company Profile:
Busy medical office that specializes in orthopedic care and sports medicine.

Your Role:
The Medical Front Desk Receptionist will be responsible for performing clerical tasks such as checking in and checking out patients, answering phones, transferring calls to appropriate personnel, and answering questions for patients and vendors.
Will also be responsible for scheduling and re-scheduling appointments for patients, and inputting information into Athena.
Assist with insurance verification.
Receive and distribute all mail, faxes, and deliveries.
Compliant with HIPAA, OSHA, and company policies and regulations.

Background Profile:
High School Diploma or GED is required.
2+ years of experience working in medical office.
Experience utilizing Athena is required.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Present excellent telephone skills and customer service skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to promote favorable facility image with patients, physicians, insurance companies, and the general public.
Basic knowledge of ICD-10 coding is preferred.
Must have excellent computer skills.
Highly organized, ethical, dependable, and flexible.

Whether in a direct-care or support role, your contribution will make a difference in the life of a Texan. The receptionist works a varied shift in the Communications Department. Receptionist works under the supervision of the communications supervisor. Receptionist provides continuous communications for the Big Spring State Hospital on a PBX console application and performs receptionist duties for the agency. Work involves answering, placing, and transferring calls, placing conference calls, monitoring the facility fire alarm system, operating the public address system, using and monitoring two way radios, receiving visitors, and providing general information. This position supports a 24/7/365 departmental operation and requires significant schedule flexibility including occasional overtime, coverage for vacations, holidays, and unanticipated absences. The successful candidate for this position will occasionally work other shifts as necessary to support the department's mission. Essential Job Functions: Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned. 1. Answers incoming calls to the Cisco PBX System and assists in placing long distance calls, conference calls, etc. 2. Operates Radio and Public Address systems. 3. Monitors the facility's emergency Fire Alarm Annunciator. 4. Receives and processes visitors. 5. Maintains and issues master keys for BSSH Lodging and contractors as needed. Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.Knowledge Skills Abilities: 1. Skill in the use of a telephone switchboard. 2. Skill in the use of computers and computer software. 3. Ability to transfer incoming calls to appropriate personnel and to greet and direct visitors. 4. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels of the organization including patients, vendors and visitors. 5. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Experience as a PBX Operator, Receptionist or experience in a switchboard and/or call center environment.
