The Patient Services Representative is responsible for greeting in a courteous and professional manner all incoming patients, visitors, physicians, vendors or other individuals. The person in this position is responsible for registering patients and coordinating with back-office personnel for timely turnaround. This individual responds to patient questions and concerns, both on the telephone and in person and is responsible for all paperwork associated with patient registration.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 4:00pm-8pm and 0730-4pm every other Saturday

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greets and registers patients in a friendly and service oriented manner.

  • Notifies appropriate team member on patient arrival.

  • Obtains proper insurance and patient information, collects signatures and ensures accuracy and completion of necessary documentation.

  • Verifies/ updates changes in patient/physician/insurance to ensure proper billing.

  • Collects and logs all co-pays and fees.

  • Answers/ transfers incoming phone calls.

  • Schedules, reschedules or cancels new or current patients, confirms appointments and notifies staff of changes when necessary.

  • Enters accurate information in the system.

  • Pre-registers, submits reports and documents, inputs clinical data as needed for appointment, and requests films as needed.

  • Gives patients appropriate orientation for preparatory and safety protocols, and provides directions to facilities if needed.

  • Responds to patient's minor questions and concerns, and refer to supervisor when necessary, in an expedient manner.

  • Maintains awareness of temperament/mood of patients in lobby in order to ensure optimal service experience and curtail any frustrations or communication that could affect the experience of other patients.

  • Communicates delays in appointments in a timely fashion and offers rescheduling in circumstances where delays could be significant.

  • Coordinates with the back office staff for timely and effective care of patients.

  • Obtains proper authorization and identification prior to release of confidential medical records.

  • Uses clerical skills (e.g. filing, organizing, process incoming mail etc).

  • Provides management with reports and logs when required.

Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience

  • Must have one of the following: a high school diploma or general education degree (GED), one to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Possesses and utilizes excellent customer service skills, strong public relations skills, and exceptional written and verbal communications skills.

  • Must be detail-oriented and organized, possess clerical skills, and have the ability to interact effectively with doctors, referring doctors and staff, patients, vendors, peers, and management.

  • Communicates, cooperates, and consistently functions professionally and harmoniously with all levels of supervision, co-workers, patients, visitors, and vendors.

  • Reports to work regularly as scheduled; consistently punctual with respect to working hours and lunch schedules, and maintains satisfactory personal attendance in accordance with RadNet guidelines.

  • Completes job responsibilities in a quality and timely manner.

Physical Demands

This position often requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting reaching with hands and arms, using hands and fingers, handling, constant talking, and hearing. Also, must be able to lift over 50 pounds, occasionally. All employees are to assist and participate as members of a lift assistance team (for special accommodation patients or any patient requiring assistance onto a table or equipment placement) to initiate or complete an exam or procedure.

The Career EMS (Emergency Medical Services) Division Chief is responsible for evaluating needs, developing initial implementation plans, policies and procedures and coordinating with the Fire-Rescue-EMS Division, local volunteer departments, Calvert Advanced Life Support and the Medical Director to integrate career EMS in support of the volunteer departments. The work involves oversight of the daily operations of the Career EMS Division in accordance with Federal, State and County laws, regulations, local ordinances, and policies and procedures. The work requires considerable experience in the EMS field. The position reports to the Director of Public Safety. Essential Job Functions/Other Duties/KSA:Develops the initial implementation strategy including policies and procedures integrating career EMS personnel and any additional EMS services required to support the volunteer Fire-Rescue-EMS departments to include Calvert Advanced Life Support in Calvert County. Ensures collaboration and integration of career services to support the volunteers. Oversees the daily operations of the Career EMS Division. Develops, interprets, and/or implements standard operating and testing procedures, policies, training programs, and general orders; establishes and reviews employee and department goals and objectives. Meets with the Chief's Council, Fire and Rescue Association, EMS Advisory Council and Fire and Rescue Commission, volunteer Fire-Rescue-EMS departments, and other county officials regarding major policies affecting the administration of Career EMS Division; recommends improvements and changes as appropriate. Establishes a comprehensive quality improvement program for the Career EMS Division. Analyzes deployments of career EMS resources and makes recommendations for any system modifications to enhance response. Acts as the liaison between the appointed Medical Director for continuous quality improvement, quality assurance and licensure of career EMS personnel. Manages career EMS ambulance licensure requirements and other related certifications in accordance with State and National Registry requirements. Maintains records related to certifications. Ensures all medical equipment on career ambulances and chase car units are appropriate and in good working order and medical supplies are at the appropriate inventory level. Participates in the development and administration of the Career EMS Division budget; approves the forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment, vehicles, materials, and supplies; approves expenditures and implements budgetary adjustments as appropriate and necessary, to ensure efficiency and effective delivery of career EMS to save lives and property. Responds to citizen questions and inquiries in a courteous and timely manner regarding career EMS personnel. Supervises career EMS personnel: prioritizes and assigns workflow and takes actions to adjust staffing and operations to meet requirements; trains staff in new procedures. Participates in and initiates actions regarding hiring, transfer, promotion, payroll, leaves, performance evaluations, discipline, and other personnel actions. Oversees ordering of, inventory and record keeping of controlled dangerous substances in accordance with any Federal, State and County codes, laws, regulations or policies for the Career EMS Division. Performs duties of HIPPA compliance, privacy act and infectious control program administrator for the Career EMS Division. Prepares for, attends, and testifies in courtroom hearings and judicial proceedings as required. Prepares and/or receives a variety of forms, logs, requests, records, reports, correspondence, and other documents associated with daily responsibilities of this position; reviews completes, processes, approves, forwards, maintains, and/or takes other action as appropriate; prepares and maintains files and records. Serves as liaison between the Career EMS Division and Hospital Administrator. Reviews and approves community programs or events such as offering free blood pressure readings that the career EMS providers may participate in. May be required to provide care in the field to the level required to maintain skills proficiency and certification or to provide EMS care in the event of an emergency or disaster. Training and/or Education: Bachelor's degree in emergency medical services, pre-hospital care or related field. Experience: Eight years as a paramedic which must include at least five years of experience managing staff, daily operations, customer service and policy development and implementation.
