Will extract, analyze and interpret data to produce both standard claims and utilization trend reporting and ad hoc analysis requests. Supports all functions within Medical Economics including monitoring of specific corporate and health cost containment initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports research and analysis of financial data, draws conclusions and provides consultation to internal and external partners for use in administering specific programs and processes related to medical expense and utilization

  • May create comparative views of unit cost information that contracting teams can utilize to identify outlier contracts.

  • Conducts ongoing monitoring of medical cost savings initiatives

  • Assist the business units to identify trend outliers, analyze the trend drivers and perform the work necessary to facilitate the discussion on possible solutions

  • Performs detailed analyses, including accumulation of data, financial modeling, and reporting of outcomes

  • May provides detailed analytics to provider network contracting teams in support of the negotiation process..

  • Develops ad hoc views of data that illustrates underlying trend issues for both cost and utilization.

  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Required in Mathematics, Economics, Healthcare or other quantitative discipline

  • 3-5 years of business experience, preferably in the healthcare industry; proficiency with Excel & SAS/SQL

  • Strong knowledge of and experience working with healthcare data including but not limited to claims, testing results and pharmacy data required

  • Preparing dashboards and preparing and presenting data using a data visualization tool such as Tableau preferred

Manage financial analysts to meet the key initiatives of the company. Develop initiatives to increase profitability and decrease medical expenses. Develop plans, provide resources and direct activities for provider financial analysis. Proactively initiate and develop analytics for strategic and operating decisions and provide recommendations to senior management on both tactical and strategic nature. Participate as a key strategic member of Management. Develop and maintain relationships. Responsibilities: * Provide oversight and direction to the Medical Economics staff to facilitate standard reporting and ad hoc analysis. * Mentor and develop direct reports which may include other supervisory personnel and/or exempt individual contributors. * Develop strategies and ensure maximum efficiencies in the utilization of human and financial resources. * Develop the workflow of and oversee the financial analysts by prioritizing projects and establishing expectations with the department's internal and external customers. * Lead and manage meetings to facilitate communications in regional initiatives to improve operating results. * Oversee Medical Economic projects and initiatives, direct all necessary follow-ups and communicate results and recommendations to senior management. * Plan, conduct and direct work on complex projects/programs necessitating the origination and application of new and unique approaches. * Oversee and conduct monthly analysis identifying opportunities to reduce cost and utilization, to include review and dissemination of reports with summary overviews to highlight issues facing the organization. * May proactively evaluate the government reimbursement process to determine areas of risk and opportunity and provide senior management with necessary updates and/or strategic recommendations. * Manage the financial analysis of medical cost. * May oversee the contract modeling process. * Develop and provide actionable recommendations to senior management relative to all analysis and/or ad hoc reporting. * Advises management in long-range planning for areas of specialization. * Provides technical direction to functional managers, other directors and management. * Recommends changes in area(s) policy and procedure. * Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
