We are currently looking for a Medical Director (Rheumatology

  • Lupus Scoring) for our Central Review Services team. The role is home based or if preferred can be based in any of our US offices.

The Medical Director (Rheumatology

  • Lupus Scoring) will work within a multidisciplinary team to support client deliverables, including grading services for efficacy indices, business development, communication and training.

Extensive experience with global clinical trials is desired. This should include but not be limited to study start-up activities including site selection and set up, investigator meeting experience, study conduct phase, data analysis and close out activities.

The ability to travel domestically and internationally and to present to global audiences is strongly preferred.

Will be involved in medical monitoring on occasion as well.

You are an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of Lupus, passionate about advancing treatment of this disease. This role works within in a multidisciplinary team to support client deliverables, including grading services for efficacy indices, business development, communication and training. Extensive experience with global clinical trials is desired.To ensure success in this role you will have:

  • Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) and formal rheumatology fellowship training & board certification / specialisation

  • CRO, biotech or pharmaceutical experience including project leadership and interaction with therapeutic and medical experts preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Ability to present and train global audiences

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

BASIC FUNCTION: This position is a board certified psychiatrist responsible for medical necessity determinations with respect to behavioral health disorders at all levels of care which includes telephonic peer-to-peer (physician to physician) reviews and telephone reviews with facility UR personnel. Additional duties include: review of "cases" with Care Management professional staff (case consultation); review of medical records; participation in committees; representing the department with internal and external key stakeholders such as providers, regulatory bodies, members and customers; directing the inclusion of behavioral health expertise at all levels of the program and throughout the enterprise, as well as external to HCSC; accountability for establishing and meeting utilization goals; and other duties as assigned. JOB REQUIREMENTS: * Doctoral degree (MD or DO) with current, active, valid, unrestricted license. * Board certified in psychiatry. * 5 years clinical experience in behavioral health care. * Knowledge of state and federal health insurance regulations. * Leadership skills. * Verbal and written communications skills to include delivering presentations to committees and acting as company representative to key stakeholders including providers, regulatory bodies, etc. * PC experience to include Microsoft Office suite of applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and databases. * Ability and willingness to travel, including overnight stays (approximately 15 overnight travel). PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS: * 1 year behavioral health experience in a managed care environment.
