Our Position

The Medical Director is responsible for the oversight and provisions of psychiatric evaluations and follow-ups, medication and medical management and leadership for the treatment team. The Medical Director is also responsible for performance improvement activities.

Your Responsibilities

  • Provides overall clinical leadership and supervision of all medical/clinical aspects of service delivery.

  • Ensures initial psychiatric assessment is completed and provides direct psychiatric services.

  • Assures that all enrolled service individuals receive appropriate evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, medical screening and medical/psychiatric evaluation, whenever indicated.

  • Communicates complaints and incidents to supervisory personnel as needed.

  • Develops differential diagnostic assessments and obtains consent to treatment.

  • Prescribes and administers medication.

  • Ensures that risk assessments, education, progress towards treatment goals, including medical, psychological, social behavioral (biopsychosocial input) and developmental aspects of the individual's situation are documented by medical providers.

  • Consults with primary healthcare providers on the clinical aspects of the individuals being served and the implications for those individual's physical healthcare needs.

  • Initiates and/or ensures appropriate response to all medical emergencies.

  • Completes clinical documentation as required.

  • Understands and adheres to RI International compliance standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policies.

  • Keeps abreast of all federal and state regulations and laws and all RI International policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.

  • Performs other related duties assigned.

  • Doctorate of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine with a specialty in Psychiatry or Addiction Medicine.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the delivery of behavioral health treatment.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of administrative experience or other form of professional leadership.

Driving Requirements:

  • If driving is required for this position, must meet all requirements outlined in RI International driving policy.

  • If not qualified to drive per driving policy, a Non-Driver Attestation form must be signed.

A Provider Checklist must be completed as part of the new hire onboarding process.

Physical Demands:

May include work close to the eyes and substantial motions of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, handling, finger dexterity; eye-hand-foot coordination, use of corrected vision; color vision; use of auditory senses. May be required to lift up to twenty (20) pounds.

Work Environment

May work in an office environment or behavioral health facility. May have contact with individuals who are agitated and/or confused. Work may include travel throughout the geographic region.
