Job Description:

This role in US Clinical Development and Medical Affairs Oncology. The US CDMA Oncology organization is responsible for all phase IB-IV oncology clinical programs.

This position will provide strategic medical and scientific leadership for both marketed and development-stage compound/s. The successful candidate will direct US clinical activities for assigned coumpound/s.

Providing medical input into clinical trial strategies. Develop the clinical strategy and plan to integrate Novartis Oncology compound/s into standard oncology practice.

Work cross-functionally to define, plan and implement exploratory studies. Analyze data from clinical trials and produce reports as indicated. Participate in strategic planning as part of Marketing, Development or Global Oncology teams where appropriate.

Extensive interactions with academic thought leaders to optimize clinical trial strategies. Educate colleagues within the company as well as health care professionals outside the company related to assigned compound/s where appropriate. Supervise and manage individuals on the US CDMA team as appropriate.

Assist in the development and appropriate spending of clinical budget. Provide input into publication plan.

Your responsibilities: * The Global Procurement Partner (GPP) Medical Affairs leads the development and execution of key sourcing strategies for Clinical R&D services across all Novartis organization-wide spend * Develops and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders in Global Drug Development, NIBR, Sandoz Development and regional and local procurement stakeholders as appropriate. * Leads strategic initiatives supporting the category and create long term cost optimization strategies that drive value with key suppliers * Develops and Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of the assigned Category, suppliers, services and their cost drivers * Ensures best-in-class delivery of external services in the related categories to support Clinical Development and to realize year-on-year productivity improvements, cost savings, and process improvements in close collaboration with the customers in the business. What you'll bring to the role: * Leads Global Category Management strategies for Clinical R&D services * Develop proposals for strategic business decisions and provide support of make-versus-buy options (e.g. in-/outsourcing of services). * Accountable with the BPA for the external budget planning linked to optimal demand management within his/her category. * Establishes and maintains relationships with global vendors, ensuring continuous improvement, spend/cost transparency and cross-divisional account management. * Identifies opportunities that focus on cost reductions, efficiencies / quality improvements, risk mitigation, industry and supply trends an shifts in technology * Assesses Risks and look for ways to maximize speed of execution and success in programs / studies * Accountable for segmentation of the supplier base and approval of new vendors. * Negotiate and finalize MSA, SFA, MTA and other master agreements. * Accountable for contract commercial terms * Accountable for ongoing, year on year savings and cost reductions as well as meeting the business requirements for Assurance of Supply, Quality, Service, Cost and Innovation * Accountable for compliance with all the applicable policies, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with the applicable law and the NFCM control matrix.
