The Supply Chain Planner is responsible to manage the demand plan (forecast) and supply for specified business segments; participate in Demand to Supply (DTS), Business to S&OP (BTS), and Source to Pay (STP) for inventory purchases.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and/or work with components of the Sales and Operations Planning process, which include consensus forecasting, financial planning and product life cycle management.

  • Understand the requirements of major internal and external customers and determine how BD's supply chain offering will align with the needs and requirements of assigned BD business units.

  • Work with Regional Demand Planners to understand the demand signals to match with the supply planning.

  • Work with Global Network/Deployment Planners to manage replenishments from hubs and plants, represent Canada to get supply in a constrained environment at times.

  • Ensure the supply chain operates to meet the needs for all of BD's customers on a consistent basis. Key performance measures of this include forecast accuracy, backorder as a % of sales, OTIF.

  • Accountable for maintaining minimum on hand inventory via safety stocks and critical products list to meet required service levels, in addition to driving reduction of excess & obsolete inventories and providing solutions to decrease write-offs.

  • Accountable for weekly backorder reporting, inventory trackers maintenance, system updates to stay current, ETA management to feed the system and dashboards.

  • Responsible/support for ongoing analysis, maintenance, and upgrades of SAP/SCM (Supply Chain Management). This will open opportunities for business process improvements in Source-to-Pay and Demand-to-Supply (e.g., purchasing by exception and consensus forecasting) for planning/purchasing, which the supply chain planner should initiate and sustain.

  • Provide recommendations for the development and implementation of supply chain replenishment network changes, which can enhance service and reduce costs.

  • Work in a team environment to optimize the tools and processes that BD is developing in the supply chain.

  • Proven continuous improvement, solution-oriented and project management skills.

  • Excellent reconciliation skills and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to effectively interact with multiple functions.

  • Demonstrated analytical ability.

  • Process improvement experience highly desired.

  • Detail-oriented, structured individual with a strong ability to multi-task.

  • Excellent PC skills including Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

  • University Degree in science / engineering / technology / business required.

  • ERP system knowledge mandatory (i.e., SAP, APO)

  • Power BI knowledge strongly preferred.

  • APICS certification (CPIM/CSCP or equivalent) preferred.

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in supply chain planning required. Related work experience, ideally in areas that include working with customers to understand their supply chain designs, considered a plus.

  • Good understanding of business processes including supply chain, forecasting, purchasing and inventory management activities.

  • Demonstrated planning skills; able to recommend and implement sustainable supply chain solutions to drive operational performance improvements.

  • Self-motivated, strong analytical skills and meticulous intellectually curious and ability to work well in a matrix / cross-functional team environment.

  • Ability to work independently and problem solve issues from a variety of known options.

  • Must show initiative, with ability to anticipate needs, make recommendations, and take appropriate action.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines.

  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office software programs, with excellent skills in Excel. General knowledge of MRP planning systems or skills to learn technical applications quickly.
