Position Summary:
The Credentialing Specialist will oversee the Credentialing process for providers working as Employees or Independent Contractors with BHS. These duties include:
- Process credentialing and re-credentialing applications for healthcare providers.
- Review, verify, and submit credentialing applications.
- Set up and maintain provider information in an online credentialing database system.
- Track license and certification expirations for all providers to ensure timely renewals.
- Maintain and protect the confidential records of all protected provider proceedings as required by law.
- Oversight of the initial credentialing onboarding process: Coordinate with recruiting and onboarding of all new hires.
- Provider Data Management: Manage the completeness and accuracy of provider demographic data and attestations in the credentialing database and online systems.
- Compliance Monitoring: Manage the provider compliance process to ensure there are no gaps in licensing and certifications; ensure timely renewal of licenses and certifications.
- File Maintenance: Maintain active and termed files of all providers in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Quality Assurance (QA): Perform QA of credentialing packets and data systems to ensure accuracy.
- Confidentiality: Handle sensitive provider information confidentially and with discretion.
- Medical Provider Credentialing Knowledge: Experience with medical provider and facility credentialing or similar work within a healthcare setting preferred.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to two years of medical credentialing experience; or Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist status.
- Excellent oral, written, and listening communication skills.
- Effective organization and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work in high-pressure situations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive provider information confidentially and with discretion.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demeanor.
- Proficient in the use of a PC; in a Windows environment; in the use of the Internet; and in the use of MS Office Applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Knowledgeable in the use of EMR systems such as AthenaOne.
- Ability to adhere to strict attendance and punctuality expectations.
- Ability to attend to details ensuring accuracy in a timely manner.
- Ability to work both independently, as well as collaboratively.
- Ability to identify and proactively solve problems.

- Additional duties as assigned.
