This position is vital to the day to day operations of the Cobb County Sheriff's Office Adult Detention Center. Negotiates individual physician and hospital bills requesting discounted rates and financial agreements for off-site medical services that are affordable for the County.
Random audit of medical records to ensure quality medical care is being provided.
Reviews medical records for medical clearance required for the Inmate Workers Program.
Serves as liaison between medical providers and the detention facility staff, and supports and promotes a team approach between both parties.
Monitors and reviews contract provider's actions to critical incidents to ensure response is appropriate.
Responds to grievances filed by inmates regarding medical care and monitors them for patterns and concerns that are legitimate.
Participates in monthly inspections to assess the condition of the facilities environment for infectious diseases and safety.
Responds in accordance with HIPPA laws regarding in-bound inquiries from family, friends, attorneys, judges and law enforcement officials.
Contacts hospital supervisory staff to obtain daily clinical status updates on hospitalized inmates. Reports findings to ADC Command and Medical staff daily.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Nursing; supplemented by three years of progressively knowledgeable experience that provides broad knowledge of the nursing field as such relates to the detainee population; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
Sensory Requirements
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors
Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions; field work will expose the incumbent to a variety of hazards consistent with a construction site.
