The Medical Communications Senior Manager, reporting to the Director of Medical Value and Access Communications (MVAC), will be responsible to identify capabilities and create scientifically rigorous and high impact population health, advanced payment model (APM) and quality metrics performance resources and tools related to payer organizations, integrated delivery networks (IDNs), specialty pharmacies, and health systems. The population health focus will be on Amgen therapeutic areas. Key internal partners for this role include the Local Healthcare Markets (LHM) leaders, Health Outcomes and Pharmaco-economics (HOPE) Specialists, Center for Observational Research, Global Health Economics, Legal, and Regulatory Affairs.
The Senior Manager responsibilities will include:
Lead the coordination, design, interpretation and delivery of resources (e.g., tools, reports) related to population health metrics for selected payers, IDNs and health systems for use to support LHM initiatives and other business initiatives
Participate in the review, interpretation and application of clinical and healthcare quality metrics for external customers
Integrate Triple Aim principals into created resources to improve health outcomes and experience of care achieved per dollar spent
Engage with LHM core team members to develop business/research questions, implement data query plans, generate analyses and reporting processes (scalable and ad hoc) to advance population health management and value-based performance
Develop and implement a program management methodology & framework so that initiatives are managed primarily through a predictable and repeatable process where appropriate
Other duties and projects as assigned.
Approximately 15% travel
Location: Thousand Oaks, CA or USA Remote
Doctorate degree and 2 years of Clinical experience
Master's degree and 6 years of Clinical experience
Bachelor's degree and 8 years of Clinical experience
Associate degree and 10 years of Clinical experience
High school diploma / GED and 2 years of Clinical experience
PharmD, PhD, MD, or DO with at least three years of relevant experience in epidemiology, public health, population health, medical/scientific affairs/communication, managed care and/or health plans (Other doctorate degrees may be considered)
Understanding of quality metrics and processes for, NCQA, Joint Commission, CMS, (e.g., MIPS, MACRA)
Quick learner comfortable with a moderate level of ambiguity
Ability to self-direct and adapt to change
Highly motivated, innovative, self-directed leader with an eagerness to stay up-to-date with current trends
Post graduate experience, e.g., residency, fellowship, internship
Aptitude in writing and presenting scientific, clinical, and economic data
Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, organizational, time management, and project planning skills with strong ability for self-direction
Demonstrated track record of strategic execution in a matrix environment with limited supervision
The ability to work in teams and interface in a dynamic environment across corporate functions
Prior experience in Medical Affairs, Medical Communication or Clinical Development within the biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, and/or clinical or research experience
An understanding of the pharmaceutical commercialization process and knowledge of the regulatory and legal guidelines affecting promotion of prescription products
Strong knowledge in MS Office excel
