The Medical Care Unit at Forest

  • Provides care to adults who are hospitalized with a wide variety of conditions, including fever of an unknown origin, kidney failure, GI complaints and failure to thrive

  • Has the ability to care for 21 patients requiring telemetry, in all newly renovated private rooms

  • Staff with a wide range of training and experience, providing treatment for those ranging in age from the young adult to end of life patients

Patients and their families are involved in establishing priorities for care that best meet the patients' needs.

Responsibilities

  • Carries out physician orders

  • Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, and monitors vital signs

  • Serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care

Education

Required: Diploma or Associates Degree from a professional nursing program

Preferred: BSN or current enrollment in a BSN program at an accredited school of nursing

Licensure / Certification

Required: Current Registered Nurse License in this state

Required: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider

HCA Nurse Residency Program (Medical Care Unit) StaRN Program (12 weeks total): Our StaRN Program will provide you with the tools necessary to succeed in today's hospital environment. It will help you transition out of the classroom setting and onto the unit by providing the following training: * 5 weeks classroom, self-study, skills & simulations * 7 weeks preceptorship * Certifications: ECG, TeamSTEPPS, BLS/ACLS, CPI After StaRN, you will transition into our Professional Development Residency: * 9 month program factored into a full time position on the unit * You will learn Charge Nurse and Preceptor skills * You will collaborate with a mentor to complete an evidence based Capstone Project (4 hours a month) * Your project has an opportunity to gain recognition by corporate for further recognition Cohort Start Date: March 2020 Additional Information about our Medical Care Unit: * You will work on a 21-bed unit with all newly renovated rooms equipped with telemetry monitoring * Our patient population includes adults who are hospitalized with various conditions including fever of unknown origin, kidney failure, GI complaints, etc. * Our nursing staff has a wide range of training and experience, providing treatment for those ranging in age from young adults to end-of-life patients * Our nurses regularly participate in education activity to maintain competence, gain new knowledge and develop advanced skills WHAT BENEFITS DO WE OFFER?
