POSITION TITLE: Medical Billing Manager
SUMMARY: This position is responsible for leading and planning the billing operations for an ambulance company. The individual is responsible for designing, implementing and enforcing policies and procedures, as well as streamlining effective billing processes across multiple markets. This position is highly visible and requires a strong leader with the ability to prioritize, plan, and direct the department.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: (Responsibilities include, but not limited to):
Accomplishes billing human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising job contributions; recommending compensation actions; adhering to policies and procedures.
Meets billing operational standards by contributing billing information to strategic plans and reviews, implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying billing system improvements.
Manage adherence to HIPPA and other governmental regulations.
Lead in understanding medical terminology and searching the medical provider's documentation to identify all diagnoses, conditions, reasons for treatment, services and procedures recorded, and to assign the appropriate billing code to each.
Accountability to management regarding call volumes, Contract volumes, runs being held daily for (medics, PCS).
Collect PCS/CMN, medication list, history and physicals from hospitals/doctor's office/nursing facilities.
Plan and implement quality assurance for all processes.
Special program/billing planning and implementation.
Proven ability to perform strategic planning and priority setting for a billing department.
Proven track record for improving process efficiencies and solving problems.
Strong leadership skills with an ability to motivate direct reports.
Staying current with Medicare/ Medicaid guidelines in regards to Allegiance Ambulance billing.
Manage cross departmental communication.
Adhere to company policies and procedures.

Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, and internal personal skills
Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
Ability to code data to produce and submit claims to insurance companies.
Knowledge of CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding and medical terminology.
Knowledge of HIPAA and other critical governmental regulations.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and data entry.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of an Associate's Degree is preferred but may be substituted with equivalent and appropriate work experience.
Five years of Medical Billing Experience.
CAC (Certified Ambulance Coder) preferred. Certification by National Association of Ambulance Coders (NAAC) (in-process of certification is acceptable or must complete within one year of hire, after successful completion of the probationary period).
