Hours: Monday

  • Friday

8am

  • 5pm and 8:30am

  • 5:30pm

Position Summary

This position will offer financial advice and assistance to patients regarding medical bills. They are the liaison between patients and their insurance companies; often coordinating payments and answering questions from both parties. Their job is to handle financial obligations so that patients and physicians can focus on healthcare.

  • Manage inbound customer communications

  • Answer incoming calls and emails to address customer questions, requests, and issues.

  • Advise patient of balances

  • Ensure the information given to the patient is accurate and up to date.

  • Support CBO reps- Printing, scanning, copying and other office duties as needed

  • Process customer payments.

  • Sorting and sending mail

  • Updating and maintaining various spreadsheets

  • Negotiate and strategize patient payment arrangements

  • Obtain referrals from Primary Care Physicians

  • Review and process patient and insurance company forms

  • Attending and participating in meetings, training, and presentations.

  • Collecting estimated liabilities from patients.

  • Establishing health insurance benefits, conditions, and requirements by making phone inquiries, and by using eligibility systems and the internet.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent.

  • 2+ years of work experience in customer service or related fields.

  • Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, billing practices, and coding.

  • Proficient computer skills.

  • Proficient with MS Office Suites.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Outstanding people skills.

  • Able to work independently

  • Bilingual Preferred but not required- English/ Spanish

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel)

  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work

  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

  • NextGen (Preferred but not required)

  • Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor clinic office setting with adequate ventilation;

  • Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic) Typical schedule is Monday through Friday with regular working hours; travel to clinics may be required.
