Urology-FMO Clinic - (Full-Time, Day Shift) -

The Medical Assistant-Urology FMO is assigned to, and performs patient-oriented procedures and tasks within the scope of their education and training and under the supervision of a physician or licensed staff person. Obtains vital signs; appropriately prepares patient for physical exam, including test results and appropriate consent forms; assists patient and/or family as necessary; completes required charting and documentation. Performs other duties as needed.

Graduate of a medical assistant program, or current national certification required. Medical Assistant Certification preferred.

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within ninety (90) days of hire. Valid driver's license required at time of hire.

Able to read; write legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction.

Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.

The Medical Assistant/Patient Services Representative is assigned to and performs patient-oriented procedures and tasks within their Scope of Practice, under the supervision of a physician, LVN supervisor, or licensed staff person, at all Neurology clinic sites. The MA/PSR works under the supervision of the Clinic Director and Clinic Supervisor and manages patient flow for check-in, checkout, and appointment procedures. The MA/PSR demonstrates exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and efficiency. Is capable of performing as sole staff support for front office as needed. Performs other duties as needed. High School Diploma or GED required. Graduate of a Medical Assistant program. Minimum Six months of customer service, general front and back office or Receptionist vocational training experience required, preferably in a medical field. Minimum one year of MA experience preferred. Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire and must be maintained. Valid Driver's License required at time of hire. Knowledgeable/trained in ICD and CPT coding preferred.
