Job Summary:

This person provides support in the medical field by performing various medical and clerical activities to assure quality care and a more efficient work place.


High school diploma or equivalent is required.
A minimum of six months work experience in a health care facility performing duties relating to patient care is preferred.

Additional experience involving computerized data equipment is preferred.
Strong communication skills with the ability to maintain and display professionalism with customers and coworkers.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Basic computer and telephone skills.
Flexibility and adaptability.
A sense of the importance of the medical assistant?s role as a patient advocate.
Willingness to be accountable/responsible for own actions.
Must demonstrate competence in BCLS within six months in position by obtaining certification.
Maintains certification and competency in Mandatory Reporting.

VIEW JOBS 10/16/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-01-14T00:00 The Assistant Chief Medical Examiner position is based in Richmond, Virginia. The Virginia Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) is a statewide medical examiner system with four regional district offices encompassing 13 forensic pathologists and a Chief Medical Examiner. The OCME Central District covers the central region of Virginia and is seeking a forensic pathologist to join the staff of two current forensic pathologists. Responsibilities include death investigations, postmortem exams, approximately 250 medicolegal autopsies per year, consultations with interested parties, court testimony supervision of staff, and other administrative oversight duties. The position advises/supervises local medical examiners as a part of a fifty-five year old statewide medical examiner system. Educational responsibilities include the instruction of forensic pathology fellows, medical students, public safety officers and others. The pathologist will participate in educational, training and research activities and participate on committees. Occasional overnight travel. Base salary commensurate with experience with full benefits package. Minimum Qualifications Experience performing forensic autopsies and postmortem examinations. Board Certification or eligibility in anatomic and forensic pathology required with ABP certification in anatomic and forensic pathology achieved within 2 years of employment. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written. Applicants must obtain medical licensure in Virginia. Required to maintain a valid driver's license and adhere to VDH's driver safety policy. Preferred Qualifications Experience with medicolegal death investigations. Experience with testifying in court. Advanced training in cardiovascular pathology, neuropathology, pediatric pathology, law, or public health desirable. University appointment is anticipated with rank determined by qualifications. Special Requirements Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results of a state and federal criminal history background check and the Department of Social Service's Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry check, U.S. HHS IG Exclusion List check, employment reference check and E-Verify. Other financial, credit, driving, or other background checks prior to employment may be required for certain positions. Completion of Statement of Economic Interests will be required upon employment.
