FRONT & BACK OFFICE MEDICAL ASSISTANT

Job Description Summary

A busy practice in Riverside, CA is looking for a qualified Medical Assistant. MUST have front and back office experience.

Front office duties include: Greet patients with a smile! Answer phones, register patients, check eligibility.

Back office duties include: Room patients, check vitals

Other duties: Surgery scheduling, CUSTOMER SERVICE! COLLABORATE WITH TEAM!

Timely and accurate verification of patient eligibility and benefits

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities

  • Greet patients
  • Manage patient care flow
  • Prepare patients for Providers by reviewing current medications and record in EMR
  • Log on to payer system to verify patient is active and eligible for services on the date of service (or call if online verification is not available.)
  • Identify patient coverage, financial responsibility for specific services anticipated to be provided:
  • Co-Insurance (% of patient responsibility based on allowed charges)
  • Deductible (amount patient must pay prior to benefits paid by insurance)
  • Co-Payment (typically on insurance card and specified amount for primary care or specialty office visit or inpatient/outpatient procedure)
  • Identify upcoming patient appointments no more than 2-3 days prior to scheduled day.
  • Log on to payer system to verify patient is active and eligible for services on the date of service (or call if online verification is not available.)
  • Identify patient coverage, financial responsibility for specific services anticipated to be provided:
    • Co-Insurance (% of patient responsibility based on allowed charges)
    • Deductible (amount patient must pay prior to benefits paid by insurance)
    • Co-Payment (typically on insurance card and specified amount for primary care or specialty office visit or inpatient/outpatient procedure)
  • Scan applicable documents into patient record.
  • Update patient record so that all staff has visibility of information.
  • Other duties as assigned and indicated.

  • Ability to type 40 wpm.
  • MA Certificate
  • Knowledge of computer software (Microsoft Office) and internet capability.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Working knowledge of Medicaid/Medicare, insurance verification, and application processing.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
