Will require some shifts until 7:00pm and rotating Saturdays; pay differential for qualifying shifts.

What You'll Do:

  • Work in cooperation with a team of skilled physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive continuity of care to a highly diverse patient population.

  • Maintain examination and treatment areas, including stocking, verifying good working order of equipment, removing expired supplies, and cleaning room after every patient visit.

  • Administer medications within scope of certification.

  • Prepare patients and assist with routine and specialty examinations, procedures, treatments, and minor office surgeries, following sterile procedures maintaining meticulous sterile technique.

  • Obtain specimens for microbiological testing, instructing patients in proper technique to collect specimens.

  • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation in the clinic record.

  • Seek to anticipate providers' needs and assist as requested, and notify RN if more technical care is needed.

  • Find teachable moments during routine care, delivering direct patient teaching and coaching.

  • Incorporate high standards of infection control into all tasks.

We will hire either Certified or Non-Certified MAs depending on qualifications of those hired.

Certified Medical Assistant

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Graduation from a medical assistant training program, OR graduation from a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces, OR at least 3 years of MA work experience within the last 5 years.

  • Unexpired documentation of passage of: AAMA Certified Medical Assistant, AMT Registered Medical Assistant, NHA Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, or NCCT National Certified Medical Assistant Certification/Recertification Examination and CPR certification within 3 months of employment; maintain current certifications.

  • Experience as an MA preferred but not required.

Non-Certified Medical Assistant

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Graduation from a medical assistant training program, OR graduation from a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces, OR at least 3 years of MA work experience within the last 5 years.

  • Experience as an MA preferred but not required.

  • CPR certification within 3 months of employment; must maintain certification.

Outside In will pay you a $500 bonus for your certification or when you get certified, not only that, if you need to take your exam, we will pay for 100% of the exam cost for your first attempt and 50% of the cost if a second attempt is needed. Outside In is a patient-centered, primary care outpatient clinic. Medical Assistants work in a team to serve diverse, homeless, and underserved populations of all ages. Medical Assistants will work with other staff and providers to support patient care including clinical, administrative, mobile clinic, and general duties within the scope of the Medical Assistant practice. Medical Assistants may be scheduled and expected to report to work at the main clinic or various outreach sites. Responsibilities * Obtain and document patient history, vital signs, and other established screening procedures. * Assist with examinations, procedures, and treatments. * Prepare and administer medications, injections and immunizations. * Recognize and respond to emergencies. * Apply principles of aseptic technique and infection control. * Perform CLIA waived tests (HgbA1C, HIV, Hgb, UA, Strep). * Work as part of Mobile Medical Outreach. * Performs basic administrative medical assisting functions. * Facilitate relationships between providers and referral coordinators to assure image scheduling and referrals to other agencies and medical specialists. * Treat all patients with compassion and empathy. * Explain methods of health and disease prevention. * Other duties as assigned. Qualifications * Must have completed a Medical Assisting program with an externship or 2 years of experience within the last 5 years in a medical office setting as a Medical Assistant. * Certification is required within 6 months. Certification must be with one of the following: AAMA, CCMA or NCCT. * Bilingual Spanish/English preferred. * Prior experience using an Electronic Health Record is preferred. * Must have valid Driver License and clean driving record, DMV records will be checked. * Knowledge of infection control principles and practices. * Knowledge of HIPAA laws and patient rights. * Able to work with people from diverse ethnic, cultural, socioeconomic and sexual preference backgrounds.
