We are committed to helping you grow within Mercy through our Medical Assistant career ladder program. Below are the requirements that will guide you through your Medical Assistant career with Mercy.

Medical Assistant I

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • or at least one year of applicable patient care experience

Medical Assistant II

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred and/or at least 1 year of experience working as a Medical Assistant

Medical Assistant III

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program and 3 years of experience

  • Certification/Registration is required (RMA or CMA)

That team is expanding, and we currently have exceptional opportunities to help our communities grow. * Sign On Bonus offered! * Provides patient care as directed by physicians. * Helps out other physicians in the office without being ask if his/her Ma is unavailable * Maintains examination rooms appropriately, notifying manager if supplies are needed. * Escorts patient to exam room and takes vital signs helping maintain our Meaningful Use Goals. * Greets each patient in a friendly courtesy manner, making them feel welcomed to our practice. * Assists with office procedures, including EKGs, cultures, PPDs, etc. * Gives attention to out patients and if unavailable makes sure another MA is able to help patient within 10 mins. * Calls pharmacy with prescriptions, calls patients with lab, test results within a day of getting result. * Checks voicemail from patients hourly. * Gives muscular injections, orders x-rays and other testing,procedures, as required. * Assists doctors with other procedures as required. Makes sure patients are escorted to the exam room and are ready to see the doctor when the doctor enters the room. * Assists with patient instruction as needed. Answers backlines, helping direct urgent calls. * May perform additional job duties, scanning and can keep up and catch up when time is available. Scanning should be done at any downtime.
