Position SummaryQualifications:

Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

Experience and Education:

  • Prefer 1 or more years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Escorts patients to and from front desk, exam rooms, dressing rooms as appropriate

  • Under direct supervision, assists clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment

  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.

  • Managing one's own time and the time of others.

  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.

Essential Duties:

  • Under direct supervision, assists clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment

  • Escorts patients to and from front desk, exam rooms, dressing rooms as appropriate

  • Oral contrast distibution

  • Records patient data in EMR as necessary.

  • Answers patient telephone calls and questions.

  • Prepares and stocks department with supplies.

  • Oversee diagnostic schedules to ensure labs in place, prior authorizations are existing and current, and consent forms are complete and signed.

  • Monitor PET/CT diet adherence, oral contrast distribution, quality checks and schedule prep oversite to reduce no show/no scan problems.

  • Help increase efficiency of patient flow for Diagnostic CT and PET.

  • Scheduling of radiation therapy patients in MOSAIQ and Centricity .

Responsibilities: * Competently and accurately completes age appropriate comprehensive physical and psychosocial assessment of patients; takes nursing history assessment. Utilizes as basis to identify nursing diagnosis/patient care needs. * Competently plans and prioritizes age and specialty appropriate care of each patient assigned. * Includes patient/family education in daily plan. * Communicates relevant information to appropriate healthcare professionals. * Ensures planned interventions are consistent with the overall plan(s) of care. * Adheres to identified discharge plan. * Is familiar with the standards of care applicable to assigned area. * Safely and properly delivers age and specialty appropriate nursing care to assigned patients. * Executes physician orders for all assigned patients; administers medications and treatments, and delivers appropriate competent nursing care in accordance with Mainland Medical Center's policies, procedures and standards. * Encourages patient/family participation in care and provides emotional support and comfort measures to them * Interprets diagnostic data * Demonstrates knowledge of legal consequences of nursing activities. Respects and supports patient rights while practicing principles of patient and employee confidentiality. Recognizes ethical dilemmas, utilizes available resources, and seeks assistance in dealing with them. Ensures ethical practice of staff. * Competently performs routine technical procedures/skills * Provides patient/family instruction and healthcare teaching. * Practices and promotes proper aseptic technique, infection control measures, and body mechanics. * Evaluates the patient/family response to, and outcome(s) of, implemented care and modifies the plan of care accordingly * Competently and consistently completes accurate, concise, and legible documentation on all patient, unit, and Hospital records. * Supports/participates in unit-based continuous quality improvement activities including evaluative mechanisms.
