  • Room patients, obtain vitals, patient history and reason for seeking care.
  • Process telephone messages.
  • Follow prescription refill procedures.
  • Maintain patient records confidentially.
  • Record patient charges and lab charges for billing department.
  • Assist the provider with patient education pertaining to their ongoing health care:

-Results of lab and x-ray reports

-Diet and exercise

-Laboratory and radiology preparation


  • Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocols.
  • Maintain work area, exam rooms, supplies, medications and immunizations.
  • Perform basic triage per specific office protocol procedures.
  • Maintain professional appearance and personal conduct at all times.
  • Adhere to employer work practices as described in TDC Occupational Exposure Plan policy.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff and management.
  • Effectively cope with typical job stress.
  • Document work processes as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



Education/ Certification/Licensure:

  • Certified Medical Assistant through the Washington State Department of Health or possess an Interim Certification and pass the National Medical Assistant Certification exam (i.e. AAMA or NCCT) within one year of issuance.
  • CPR certification for Health Care Providers.


  • 3 months experience in an office environment preferred.


  • Medical terminology.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of CPT & ICD-10 coding procedures.
  • Knowledge of medications and injection procedures.

Other Requirements:

  • Maintain current Washington State DOH Medical Assistant-certified certification.
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively.
  • Must be able to act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language in person, by phone and in writing.
  • Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, attendance, punctuality and personal appearance.

This individual will support a fast-paced orthopedic clinic. Day shift with occasional weekends and no holidays. About Your Position: As a Medical Assistant, you will work as a member of a care team to provide care and support to patients under the direction of a physician or mid-level provider. Your daily responsibilities will include the following types of things: Greeting and preparing patients for their visit with the provider by obtaining and recording their vital signs and other information such as height, weight, drug allergies, current medications and presenting problem Assisting with diagnostic tests and clinical procedures such as venous and capillary invasive procedures for blood draws, intradermal (including skin tests), subcutaneous and intramuscular injections Administering medications and vaccinations Managing patient flow, ensuring enough time for patient and family education Preparing and sterilizing instruments and maintaining equipment and patient care areas clean and orderly Scheduling patient appointments and other administrative duties as needed Actively participating in continuing education, required meetings and committees as requested May perform medical scribe duties under the direct supervision and review of the attending provider and in compliance with the FMG Medical Scribe Program Policy. Job Requirements: High School Diploma (or GED equivalent) and completion of a Medical Assistant certification program at an accredited institution that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities. One year experience as a Medical Assistant preferred. Licensure/Certifications: Washington State Certification as a Medical Assistant-Certified. Must have a current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain it within the first 30 days of employment.
