Job Description:
In this 12-month, full-time position at the SUNY Poly Wellness Center: Health & Counseling Services, the Medical Assistant will provide clerical and clinical support in a college healthcare setting. The routine clerical duties include greeting student patients in person and by phone, scheduling appointments, answering the Wellness Center main reception line as well as emails to the wellness center inbox, entering documentation for medical and counseling to the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system as well as scanning health documentation received by fax or dropped off in person. Clinical duties include preparing the student patient for their medical visit, obtaining and recording vitals, and performing standardized routine laboratory procedures such as specimen collection and processing as required.
The Medical Assistant works directly and collaboratively with other Wellness Center staff including the director, clerical, clinical, counseling, and health promotion staff. Must have excellent communication and organization skills. Familiarity with an EMR system and Microsoft software is required. Familiarity with the Banner software application for Higher Education is desirable.
The primary location for this position is in Utica, with possible travel to other operating locations.
