Medical Assistant - Skin Cancer Specialists - Travel

Skin Cancer Specialists, an AQUA Dermatology portfolio practice, is a premier dermatology practice serving patients in metro Atlanta, north and south Georgia, eastern Alabama, and southern Tennessee. We offer comprehensive treatments for skin cancer, general dermatology, cosmetic dermatology, and aesthetic services.

Our team has an immediate need for a Surgical Medical Assistant looking for a career in Dermatology. The ideal Medical Assistant candidate is positive, energetic, intelligent, highly dependable, organized, and can multi-task. Our team members are responsible for assisting the Provider with patient visits, including consultations and procedures through the following responsibilities:

Primary Duties

• Prepares treatment rooms for the examination of patients.

• Calls patients from the waiting room and places patients in the exam room

• Interview patients, and record information in patients' electronic charts.

• Drapes patients with covering and positions instruments and equipment.

• Assists providers with examination or surgical procedures.

• Cleans and sterilizes instruments.

• Assists with laundry.

• Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials.

• Gives injections or treatments and performs routine laboratory tests as ordered by the provider.

• Draws blood and obtains urine specimens from patients. Prepares specimens for the reference laboratory, and completes of appropriate requisitions.

• Prepares biopsy specimens to be sent to the appropriate lab.

• Dispenses oral medications as directed by the provider.

• Educates all new patients on skin cancer and sunscreen use.

• Documents patient visits in the electronic medical record (EMR).

• Assists phone triage nurse in obtaining prior authorizations for procedures or medications.

• Assists phone triage nurse as needed with prescriptions and refills to the pharmacy according to protocol.

Skills and Qualities:

• Able to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others, patients, and co-workers.

• Able to prioritize tasks, understand the provider's instructions, and know when to seek information or advice.

• Able to travel between multiple locations across the region.

Experience and Education:

• Medical Assistant (MA) Certification or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) License

• Hands-on experience in a clinical setting

• Dermatology or surgical experience is preferred.
