Job Overview

We currently have an opening for a full-time Medical Assistant to join our Salt Lake City, Utah team. Under the leadership of the Department Manager and the indirect supervision of Physicians, assist with the delivery of patient care in the clinic by maintaining clinic flow, obtaining routine clinical information on patients/family; providing physical care of the patients, procuring and maintaining par levels of clinic supplies and providing light clerical assistance.

Schedule: Daytime, M-F, 40 hours/week (in-person)

Holidays: 9 observed holidays per year

Compensation range: Pay range for this position is $15.31/hr - $22.97/hr. The hired applicant's placement within the range is based on qualifications, professional experience and education.

Responsibilities

Communication• Information is transmitted to patients, families & colleagues in a clear, concise & professional manner. Clinic Prep• Responsible for prepping clinic in timely manner to be prepared for that days clinic. prepping clinic includes calling new patients to start EMR documentation.

Assures that all consult and lab results are available for doctor to review before patient is seen. Monitors provision of printed materials that contribute to organized clinic operations. Contributes to orderly/efficient laboratory communication cycle.

Call Care coordinator to clinic when a patient is booked for surgery, needs transition planning, requires assistance with resources or as needed to provide good patient care. records accurate information on all charge sheets. Patient Care• Assists doctor with delivery of patient care tasks. Rooms patients, sees new patients, hands out care coordination brochure, & manages clinic flow.

Assures patients are in gowns or shorts and shoes and socks are off. Enters all information on intake form in EMR in real time including medication, allergies, height and weight. Completes depart summary and reviews with family, prints form escorts family to check out and gives family the depart summary.

Performs the following clinical patient care duties professionally & with adequate concern for patients; obtaining/drawing specimens, cast removal, assists w/suture & staple removal, cast application and trigger point injection or other duties as assigned by doctor or supervisor. Outreach Clinic• Attends outreach clinic as needed Assist outreach coordinator with charts, copying, filing, mailing as needed. Supplies & Equipment• Monitors daily OPD supplies & equipment.

Maintains, cleans equipment & tracks it's use. Makes appropriate & timely repairs & inspection referrals to SHC Equipment Manager and/or to BioMed as necessary & appropriate. Notifies the Equipment Manager of any breakdowns or needs for equipment in OPD. Keeps Clinic Nurse updated on needs.

Qualifications

Required

  • Certificate in Medical Assisting (AAMA within 6 months)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (within 30 days)
  • 1 year or less of Medical Assisting experience
  • COVID-19 Vaccination

Preferred

  • High School Diploma/GED
