Medical Assistant

RESPONSIBLE TO: Practice Manager

JOB SUMMARY: As a Medical Assistant at Seasoned Recruitment, you will be responsible for coordinating patient care with physicians, assisting with patient assessments, administering medications, and performing various administrative duties that contribute to patient care.

Clinical Support

• Greet patients and escort them from the waiting room to exam rooms.
• Prepare patients for exams or treatments and take vital signs.
• Provide assistance to physicians when requested.
• Perform Spirometry and other breathing tests as ordered.
• Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.
• Perform patient education when appropriate.
• Complete appropriate documentation in patients' medical records.
• Call in prescriptions as ordered by physicians or nurse practitioners.
• Administer allergy prick testing and/or intradermal testing as ordered.
• Administer allergy injections to shot patients as per physician-approved schedule.
• Monitor patients' medical status for possible adverse reactions following allergy injections.
• Maintain emergency equipment and respond to patient-related telephone calls according to clinical protocol.
• Follow up to obtain referrals and insurance authorizations as needed.
• Maintain clinical supply stock and medication samples.

Other

• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and compliance guidelines.
• Maintain detailed knowledge of practice management and other computer software relevant to job functions.
• Attend necessary training programs such as CPR, OSHA, HIPAA, and OIG.
• Attend all regular meetings.

Requirements

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• High school degree required
• CMA certificate desirable

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• At least one year of clinical assisting experience
• Comfortable with email and Internet applications
• Knowledge of practice management and word processing software
• Good communication skills
• Neat and professional appearance
