Description

The Medical Assistant reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine, adheres to the organizations Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. The Medical Assistant is a member of the health care team primarily responsible for providing support to physicians, nurses, and other licensed medical staff by facilitating efficient patient flow, assisting with various patient care activities, and performing related administrative functions.

The Medical Assistant is responsible for ensuring efficient patient flow through the clinic; maintaining neat, clean and safe patient care areas; promoting patient satisfaction by interacting with patients in a professional, friendly manner; safeguarding patient confidentiality. Description

Qualifications

Required: Non-Certified/Non-NM Clinical Schools Graduates: - Must have written proof of meeting candidate eligibility requirements for writing one of the three eligible certification exams (AAMA, AMT, or NCCT) - Within first six months of employment, will complete one of the following certifications after up to two test attempts: - Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) - Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through American Medical Technologists (AMT) or

  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) - Signed acknowledgement during onboarding that certification must be attained within 6 months, as a condition of employment NM Clinical Schools MA Program Graduates:

  • Graduates of the NM Clinical Schools Medical Assistant Program must have a passing score on the AMT exam and proof of that provisional testing

What You Will Do You will have the opportunity to perform basic clinical patient care, assist nursing staff with complex patient care and procedures, and work along with a diverse interdisciplinary team to help our patients. What You Will Need Certifications: * BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. * One or more of the following: * Practical/Vocational Nurse credentialed from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. * Nurse Aide credentialed from the Illinois Department of Public Health obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Nursing student who has completed on semester of medical surgical nursing is also acceptable. * Emergency Medical Tech credentialed from the Illinois Board Of Division of Emergency Medical Services and Highway Safety obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
