Job Overview

We currently have an opening for an on-call Medical Assistant to join our Medford, OR team. Staff MA functioning in a specialty role accountable for providing comprehensive, family-centered care to patients and families in the pediatric orthopedic Outpatient Department. Provides the highest possible level of comprehensive care to Outpatient Clinic patients and their families under the direction of the Manager, Clinical Coordinator, or RN.

Schedule: On-Call, mixed M-F (in-person)

Holidays: 9 observed holidays per year

Compensation range: The hired applicant's placement within the range is based on qualifications, professional experience and education.

Responsibilities

Direct Patient Care• Performs all aspects of direct patient care according to current Outpatient Clinic "Standards of Care." Documents interventions per policy & lists plan consistently.Plotting/Graphing Patient Growth Charts• Obtains and graphs patient's weight, height, arm span, and head circumference according to Outpatient Clinic "Growth Chart Graphing (Plotting)" competency checklist.Laboratory Tests• Lab work completed the same day ordered.New Patient Assessment• Reviews new patient assessments according to Outpatient Clinic "Health History and New Patient Assessment". Uses good clinical judgment to identify problems and interventions with patients/families and referral to RN as needed.Cast DutiesAssists with monitoring supplies and equipment with PCA/cast tech. Maintains equipment and notifies supervisor/manager when new equipment needed.

Assists in ordering cast supplies. Sets up and cleans cast room. Demonstrates skills necessary to assist with cast, splint, and dressing application, removal, and cleaning in multiple hospital settings as shown by:• Safely removing casts, cleans patient, cover s affected limb and instructs family on skin care

Qualifications

Required

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) -- by 1st day of hire, through American Heart Association only
  • COVID-19 Vaccination

Preferred

  • Associate's in Medical Assisting

  • Certification by the American Association for Medical Assistants (AAMA)

  • 1 year experience as Medical Assistant
