Description

University Physicians' Association is seeking qualified applicants for Medical Assistant (MA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position at UNIVERSITY PALLIATIVE CARE in Knoxville, TN. Candidates must be detail-oriented and able to work under deadlines in a very fast-paced office. Applicants must be familiar with giving instructions, writing orders, and making the patients their top priority. This position will work closely with physicians to provide a seamless patient experience.

Job duties include but are not limited to: assisting physicians with patient care, scheduling, prior authorizations, obtaining pre-certs for MRIs, CTs, and surgery cases, tracking results, and various other tasks. This position also requires the ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with physicians, patients and their families while conveying a positive image of the practice. The applicant should be skilled at answering patient questions and triaging while managing clinic duties.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm

Candidates must adhere to the following:

  • Provide complete patient assessment, including vital signs and pre-examination procedures in clinic setting.

  • Gathers and assesses objective and subjective data from the patient.

  • Documents data and assessments in the patient electronic record

  • Assists the providers in all aspects of the consultation, treatment, procedures, and follow-up care.

  • Medication reconciliation, management, patient compliance, inventory, education.

  • Demonstrate critical thinking, sound judgments based on the presenting data, and a timely response based on the expected patient outcome and standards of care as well as unit/organizational policies.

  • Surgery knowledge including scheduling, communicating surgery instructions and treatment plans to patient.

  • The position will include rotation of triage nurse call for urgent medical issues

  • Maintain current CPR for Health Care Providers.

  • Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, attendance, punctuality and personal appearance.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, time management, and organization skills are critical to the overall success of the candidate.

  • Current RN or LPN License required

  • Prior medical experience is required
