Clinic Navigator/Medical Assistant
Position Description
The Medical Assistant ensures smooth operations within the clinic with the goal of providing a positive patient experience with every customer encounter. Responsible for the overall patient flow through the clinic providing excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor at all times. Assists providers in delivery of professional medical care including but not limited to
Patient Registration (Convenient Care)
Collecting of Fees as Appropriate (Convenient Care)
Verifying Insurance (Convenient Care)
Running Epic for High Deductible Insurance (Convenient Care)
Scheduling Patient Appointments
Rooming Patients
Checking and Entering Patients Vitals
Verifying Patients' Medical and Surgical History
Verifying Patients Medication List
Documentation in the EMR per clinic protocol
Performing Point of Care Testing such as Flu, Covid, Strep, Urine Analysis, Glucose, INR, Lipid Panel, and HCG.
Documenting POCT Test Results in the POCT Book
Performing Monthly Quality Control Tests
Performing Opening and Closing Duties
Assisting NPs with Ordering Supplies
Ensuring all supplies are up to date and not expired
Checking Clinic Voicemail and Fax
ADDITIONAL MA DUTIES:
Calling patient results after NP review
Entering Orders into Epic
Administer Injections
Evenings 4-8 and every other weekend from 8-5
Teamwork
Fosters and maintains positive relationships with the retail manager, providers and staff. Effectively communicates team needs to Area Manager to ensure superior service is delivered to patients. Works collaboratively with all disciplines and offers assistance to all customers. Takes initiative to meet the needs of all patients, while demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to meet team needs (including changes to assignments). Ability to float within the market and adjust to scheduling based on the needs of the market. Attends and participates in ongoing training and education as required. Ability to ascertain what needs to be done and prioritize patient flow when rooming and responding to patients efficiently.
Quality
Demonstrates awareness of and performs tasks within the Scope of Practice. Performs clinical tasks and activities as required to ensure patient safety is maintained and quality care is given. Prepares equipment and assists provider during appointment as requested. Follows all HIPAA and OSHA regulations. Performs vital signs and point-of-care testing as delegated by Provider. Assists Provider in documentation related to patient care. Actively participates in quality improvement meetings or action plan development for performance and process improvement activities.
