Overview

Shenandoah Oncology is looking for a flexible, dedicated, and compassionate Medical Assistant (MA) Floater to join our team. The selected candidate will provide assistance in all areas of the practice that may require MA services including the treatment room, patient exam rooms, and triage. We offer state-of-the-art therapies that allow our patients to get university-level care close to home in Winchester, VA. The position is Monday - Friday, 8:00 - 4:30 p.m. ET., and our practice observes several paid holidays and offers a competitive benefits package.

Responsibilities

  • Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, triage, and treatment rooms as appropriate.

  • Records patient data before each physician visit, including but not limited to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.

  • Obtains all necessary patient records as required by a physician before treatment or procedures.

  • Prepares and stocks exam/treatment rooms and orders supplies as needed.

  • Assists physicians with exams and procedures as requested.

  • Administers subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician.

  • Maintains all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.

  • Answers patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.

  • Phones in prescriptions and makes other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.

  • Informs physician of patient reschedules and no-shows.

  • Performs other administrative duties, i.e., typing, filing faxing, chart preparation, reception, etc., as requested by supervisor or physician.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Certified MA, preferred.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within three months of hire.

  • Willing to consider an entry, mid, or senior-level candidate.

Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs.
