At the Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant Center at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, more patients leave our#center every year with new hearts and a renewed lease on life than any other program in New England. Within#the Cardiovascular Center, you will work alongside some of the top cardiology specialists in the nation in the areas of heart failure, cardiac transplant and mechanical cardiac circulatory support.# In 2016, we performed 56 heart transplants--more transplants than we have ever done in a single year.

This placed us as one of the top 10 programs in the country for heart transplant volume and broke the previous New England record for heart transplants performed in one year (which stood at 37 procedures since 1991). Today we continue to be a robust program and pride ourselves on providing individualized patient-centered care. Our multidisciplinary team is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to help support our very busy outpatient clinics and help care for our patients.# The role will include direct patient care responsibilities as well as administrative functions.


Specialized diploma/certificate demonstrating knowledge or ability obtained through the completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Training Program.

National certification as a Medical Assistant preferred

. High School diploma or equivilent required. BLS certification required.

One to two years of medical experience preferred. Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail required. #

VIEW JOBS 2/8/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-05-08T00:00 Position Summary: Under the direction of a Physician, NP, Manager or Director and Clinical lead, the Medical Assistant performs a variety of patient care and technical duties to support the work of the Clinicians and to facilitate delivery of care and education to patients. The Medical Assistant works closely with the professional staff to provide care and diagnostic testing for adult patients. Electronic medical record and physician office experience preferred. Principal Duties and Essential Functions: * Escorts patients to exam rooms and provides direct patient care. * Prepares patient exam rooms to ensure they are ready for patients and doctors. Keeps the exam rooms stocked with supplies needed to perform patient assessments. Responsible for keeping exam rooms clean. * Performs diagnostic testing which may include but is not limited to, urine collection, phlebotomy, EKG, etc., as ordered. * Obtains prior authorizations for same day imaging and medication as required by payors. * Records vital signs and assists Physician with patient exams. Enters all data into electronic health record. * Complies with all PQRS, Meaningful Use and other Quality requirements (required vitals, e-prescribing, etc). * Reports all pertinent observations to Physician, Office Manager, Director, or other health team member. * Coordinates surgical bookings, ancillary testing, and consultations as necessary. * Follows up with patients on test results, rx refills, and assists with patient education. * Functions as a liaison between the patient and their family and the health care team. * Performs other related duties as required.
