Responsibilities
Our Medical Assistant's are responsible for providing patient care adapted to individual patient needs, which includes patient assessment, planning for therapy, implementation of therapeutic plans and evaluation of outcomes. The Center for Pain Medicine provides a full range of diagnostic evaluation and interventional treatment for a wide range of ambulatory patients with acute, chronic, and cancer-related painful disorders.
The medical assistant obtains patient history and vital signs, screens incoming laboratory and radiological studies for abnormalities and communicates directly with the Center¿s physician staff. He or she also focuses on preparing patients physically and emotionally for various treatments in the Center through interview, physical assessment, education, recovery and patient instruction in self-care. Our medical assistants are the primary liaison between our patients and the physician staff and they serve as a critical link in providing seamless continuity of care.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Registered Medical Assistant's Program with a current license to practice as a Medical Assistant in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
The successful candidate must have a minimum of 1 year experience in an ambulatory care setting. Applicants must have adequate knowledge to plan patient care, provide direct patient care during treatment, and educate and orient families and other staff.
A track record for working with a wide range of staff as part of an interdisciplinary team is a plus. All candidates must be able to provide care in a fast-paced clinical environment.
