GENERAL SUMMARY:

To assist nursing staff and medical providers in facilitating client flow by performing basic nursing tasks and assigned clerical functions in accordance with current policies and procedures.

Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Be a team player

• Possess the necessary communication and interpersonal skills needed in order to deal effectively with patients and staff concerns and/or issues.

• Performs selected nursing and administrative duties.

• Prepares patients for medication provider appointments.

• Observes, records and reports patient's conditions.

• Triages incoming and outgoing telephone calls.

• Responsible for maintaining treatment area.

• Attends required meetings.

• Demonstrates appropriate use of the EMR.

• Abides by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).

• Serves a population children through geriatric.

• Other duties as assigned or requested.

• May involve out of county travel.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.

• Multi-tasking and prioritization skills.

• Basic computer skills.

• Knowledge of the functions of a Nurse Assistant in a clinic environment

• Medical Terminology.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Previous exposure to a medical environment

• Medical terminology

Education and Experience Required

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

• Previous general office and computer skills required.

• Completion of a Medical Assistant program, Certified Nurse Assistant training, Emergency Medical Technician training or 1 semester of RN or LPN nursing school clinicals.

• Previous positive experience working in a psychiatric or medical clinic.

• Healthcare Provider AHA BLS is required within three months of hire.

Preferred Education

• Certified Nurse Assistant training/certificate.
