UPMC Children's Community Pediatrics is hiring a Limited Casual Medical Assistant to support the Express Care facility in Wexford, PA. This position will work rotating evenings and weekends.

The Medical Assistant assists physicians with various aspects of patient care (including clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks) ensuring patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Answering calls and providing pertinent information including patient education as directed.

  • Check schedules and organizing patient flow. Accompany patients to exam/procedure room. Assist patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc. Collect patient information/history; taking vitals, performing screenings per provider guidelines. Relay instructions to patients/families.

  • Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health). Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data. Comply with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures

  • Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc. Complete forms/requisitions as needed. Schedule appointments. Verify insurance coverage and patient demographics. Prepare and managing charts to ensure information completed and filed appropriately. Other front office responsibilities, as required.

  • Perform phlebotomy, EKG's, and level one labs. Perform clinic procedures according to policy and procedure. Assist physicians with procedures. Document patient information into the medical record.

  • Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol. Clean exam/procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control. Clean according to scheduled maintenance program and keeping appropriate records. Manage inventory of supplies; restocking exam/procedure rooms.

  • Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with Health Insurance. Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other state and federal regulations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Successful completion of Medical Assistant program or equivalent hospital program preferred.

  • Minimum of one-year work experience in a public contact job, preferably service related or as a Medical Assistant preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Act 31 Clearance

  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal

  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal

  • Act 73 FBI Clearance

  • Basic Life Support or Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation

Children's Community Pediatrics is hiring a part-time Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner to help support the Express Care Wexford Department. This APP must be open to all shifts Monday through Friday 5PM - 9 PM, a Saturday or Sunday shift every other weekend, and a potential steady Tuesday night shift. There is no travel or on-call required. The Staff Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner and a member of the care delivery team. The Staff APP is responsible to set the standards for the level and quality of care. The Staff APP has responsibility, authority and accountability for the provision of care through supervision by and collaboration with a physician. The Staff APP manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication and collaboration with all team members. The role of the Staff APP encompasses the beginnings of leadership, partnership, collaboration and supervision. The Staff APP establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The Staff APP begins to demonstrate a commitment to the community and to their healthcare profession. The successful candidate will be placed according to years and months of experience for employment purposes. Responsibilities: * Actively engages in clinical development of all members of the healthcare team.
