Candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • Current BLS from the American Heart Association.

National Certification from one of the following organizations:

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from the American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) from the National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

Description

Job Summary:

  • Performs assigned patient care and observation duties, and assists in emergency situations under the direction of a licensed provider, RN, or LPN.

  • Responsible for performing routine and more complex clinical duties to include, but not limited to, taking vital signs, administering a limited profile of medications, performing simple diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, drawing blood, sterilizing and cleaning equipment, and maintaining examination rooms in an outpatient care setting.

  • Orders, verifies, and stores unit supplies. Performs patient and practice administrative duties including: patient check in/out, chart prep, POS collection, scheduling follow-up appointments, scheduling ancillary & procedure appointments, uploading imaging and records, precertification for procedures, Zendesk requests, bump list, answering calls, and charge entry admin pool messages.

  • All duties and patient interaction performed in accordance with Emory Healthcare patient and family centered care standards.

  • May participate in research projects impacting patient care areas.

  • Performs other related responsibilities as required.

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED, basic computer skills, and one year of medical assisting experience preferred.

  • Certificate verifying successful completion of a medical assistant training program from one of an accredited school.

  • Current AHA BLS certification is required for hire and must be maintained throughout employment.

  • Must successfully complete all medical assistant orientation and training requirements including certification and annual skills competency.

  • Current certification as one of the following is required: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from the American Medical Technologists (AMT), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) from the National Healthcare Association (NHA), or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). Preferred certification is the CMA or RMA. Must successfully complete all medical assistant orientation and training requirements and annual skills competency.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium):

  • 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
