What You Will Do

As a Medical Assistant, you are responsible for facilitating the flow of patient care in the clinic in an organized, effective manner.

The Opportunity

  • Check in, prepare patients for examination, manage patient flow, discharge from clinic and schedule follow-up appointments.
  • Perform vital signs, review medications, allergies, and update information within the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Administer intramuscular and subcutaneous medications following verification of drug, dose, method of administration, special precautions needed such as R.I.C.E. by RN and document in EMR.
  • Administration of non-opioid oral medications following verification of drug, dose, any special precautions needed by RN and document in EMR.
  • Assist with procedures including but not limited to bone marrow biopsy and IUD placement and removal.
  • Perform venipuncture/phlebotomy and specimen processing, as needed.
  • Discontinuation of intravenous catheters.
  • Complete INR finger sticks and report results to INR management team.
  • Fax slide sheets; file slides in microscope room; notify providers.
  • Maintain linens, exam room supplies, and snack inventory.
  • Manage sharp containers and red bag waste.
  • Maintain oxygen supply.
  • Complete Quality Assurance checks: eyewash station, refrigerator logs, emergency kit supplies.
  • Assist with clinic supply inventory management.
  • Assist with clinic medication inventory management.
  • Enroll patients in Patient Portal.
  • Participate in outreach clinics.

This position requires occasional travel to outreach clinics throughout the state of Indiana.  

Requirements

  • Certified medical assistant diploma or associate degree preferred.
  • CCMA or RMA preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of related experience required.
  • Valid driver’s license and insured automobile required.
