MEDICAL ASSISTANT # # # JOB SUMMARY AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provides medical care and clerical support by facilitating patient flow through the Outpatient clinic.

Performs various activities such as physical assessments, routine tests, specimen collection, EKG#s, assisting with procedures, patient registration and front desk support. # # # JOB REQUIREMENTS: # EDUCATION: Successful completion of an approved Medical Assistant program.


EXPERIENCE:


One (1) consecutive year of experience as a certified medical assistant required. # KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide care, maintain clinical competency and meet patient population needs within clinic area to include: physical assessment, blood/specimen collection, data entry, EKG testing and maintaining sterile environment and infection control practices.

Demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions, plan and organize work to be done, effectively record and reflect observations, react and perform under stress in emergency situations and communicate effectively with unit personnel, medical/hospital staff, patient, family and others to ensure optimal patient care. LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION: Medical Assistant Certification and CPR Certification.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


Exposure to infectious agents; frequent walking and standing, lifting and moving patients, equipment and supplies. Heavy Work

  • Exerting up to 150 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 75 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 30 pounds of force constantly to move objects. (May be further defined as #with or without assistance.#)
